Exercise

I continue to exercise at least 35 minutes, 5 to 6 times each week. I started diligently exercising about a month ago. I want to exercise everyday, but life sometimes gets in the way. I enjoy the after-work exercise sessions with co-workers and long, fast walks with my husband the most.
I have lost about 3 pounds in the last couple of weeks.

Round 1 - Conscious Eating

Activity #3
It was my habit to have a light meal when I got home from work after my evening shift. I knew I didn't sleep well on those nights either, but I was hungry. For the last few weeks I haven't been eating that late and I find I am no longer hungry when I get home.

Round 1 - Conscious Eating

Activity #6 - I watched the movie Supersize me. I rarely eat fast food, but I used to love it a long time ago. After seeing this movie, I realize how bad that food can really be for my health. The effects on Morgan Spurlock's body in just the first 2 weeks was convincing enough for me to keep away from fast food even more. I'm not surprised that some people he interviewed outside of Mickey D's claimed to eat fast food 3 or more times per week. They were supersized people and just didn't seem to get the connection.

More to come when I complete the second activity

I haven't posted in a week. It was too overwhelming to count calories consumed and burned everyday, although that is what I want to keep track of. After I get the hang of the food combining, I may be able to get back into that. I did not exercise Thursday, Friday, or Saturday because I had too much going on. I really have to keep up with it if I want to look like Leeza Gibbons when I turn 50. My nutrition mentor tells me my body will naturally assume its optimum weight on its own. I still want to exercise to build muscle.
I walked 35 minutes today at about 3.5 mph.
Yesterday I did 15 mins of Yoga with 1/2 hour of dancersize.
Monday I walked for 45 minutes at about 3 mph.
Calories consumed are moderate as I'm pretty much unsure of what to eat.
I'll get the hang of it.

Exercise - 1114 calories burned today.
I'm trying to keep in mind the number of calories needed to complete day-to-day activities. 7 hours working, both sitting at my desk and standing at the circ desk burned over 700 calories (according to the Bally's Calorie Burn Calculator). Regular walking around burned up another 130, and my workout walk of 45 mins at 3 mph burned 170.
Diet - 1220 calories consumed
I'm exercising every day and I'm getting tired. I'm learning a new way of eating and find that I'm stumped about what to eat. I must consume extra fruit servings when I get home.
Calories burned and consumed are close estimates based on nutritional information on packaging, on the web, and in a book, The Complete Nutrition Counter.

Exercise - 905 calories burned between working, yoga, and walking.
40 minutes of Yoga. Today we started the after-work workout. 3 of us stayed after work and completed a yoga workout on DVD. It was great!
I also walked 2 little miles on my pedometer. Working 1 very busy hour at the circ desk helped too. Should I really be adding in the calories burned doing desk work?
Diet - 1238 calories
Not too bad today, I think. I am following the food combining concept.

Food Combining

My nutrition guru is coaching me in food combining. I am going to try to practice this for the duration of the challenge and see how it affects my weight, metabolism, and energy levels.
I found another helpful site, http://www.calorieking.com/. Here I can find out the calorie content of a food item and then how much exercise to do to burn off that amount of calories. I'm adding that to my list of Other Activity sites.

Exercise - 195 calories burned
Casual walking 3 miles. No time for exercise today. Lunch date and meeting after work. No time for homework either!

Diet - 1185
This is a rough estimate as I can't be sure of exact serving amounts.

Not a bad day really, except I missed a halfway decent workout.
I found a calculator to help me figure out how many calories I should consume per day to lose weight. If I want to lose 1 pound per week I should consume around 1200 calories per day. When I complete 30 minutes of exercise I can add about 300 (?)calories I've added it to my Other Activities Calorie Calculator list. Here it is

Today is a fun day! We kicked off the Health and Wellness Challenge with vegetables and dip, fresh fruits, and a delicious fat-free, sugar-free cake. MMmm good. I ate only the fruits, vegetables and a couple pieces of cake. I had no room for lunch.
We also set up the Wii for staff. I was able to play 2 games of bowling and 6 games of tennis (2 matches of best out of 3). I actually found a website, www.wiihealthy.com, to calculate calories burned playing Wii Sports!
Exercise - Total calories burned today = 582!
30 minutes of Wii Sports 20 mins bowling, 10 minutes tennis - Burned 123 calories!
45 minutes Yoga - Burned 324 calories!
Pedometer shows 2.5 miles today. Not counting stairs and hills. Burned 155 calories!
Diet
Fruit, Vegetables and Dip, fat-free/sugar-free cake, chicken and rice.
1 quart of water

2-5-09

Exercise
30 minute Pilates workout. Burned 126 calories!
Diet
Not too good today. I had a piece of chocolate cake. It was really good though. That cancels out the Pilates.
